About

The International Seabed Authority (ISA) is an autonomous international organization headquartered in Kingston, Jamaica. Established under the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), it comprises 168 members. ISA organizes and controls mineral-resources-related activities in the international seabed area. The authority also ensures the protection of the marine environment from deep-seabed activities.
