Who is responsible

Data in business listings

Listings contain business information — names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, opening hours, photos and descriptions. Most were compiled from publicly available business directory sources. Where a listing relates to a sole trader or professional listed under their own name, some of that information is personal data.

Why: to help people find and contact local businesses (our legitimate interest, and the business’s interest in being found).
What we limit: we don’t show email addresses on listings that appear to be for an individual, we don’t sell contact data, and we don’t use it for marketing to the listed business without a lawful basis.
Descriptions: some descriptions are rewritten automatically to be clearer; owners can replace them at any time.
Your choices: you can ask us to correct, hide or remove a listing at any time using the removal form. Once removed, we record it so it isn’t re-added by future imports.

Accounts

If you create an account or claim a business we process your name, email, password (hashed), claim details and phone number to run the service, verify claims and contact you about your listing (contract / legitimate interest).

Visitors

We keep standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security and abuse prevention, typically for up to 30 days. “Near me” uses your device location only in your browser for that search; we don’t store it. See the Cookie notice.

Some processors are outside the Caribbean; we rely on their contractual safeguards for international transfers.

Retention

Listing data is kept while the listing is published. Removed listings are deleted, except for a minimal suppression record (business reference, email/phone) needed to stop them reappearing. Account data is kept until you delete your account.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the Jamaica Data Protection Act 2020, the Barbados Data Protection Act 2019, the Cayman Islands Data Protection Act, the Bahamas Data Protection Act, or UK/EU GDPR) you may have rights to access, correct, delete, object to or restrict processing of your data, and to complain to your data protection regulator. Email privacy@caribfinder.com or use the removal form. We aim to respond within 14 days.
