About
The St. Kitts Electricity Company Limited (SKELEC) is a public utility providing electric power generation, transmission, and distribution services to St. Kitts. It became the sole electricity provider on August 1, 2011, and is owned by the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis. SKELEC operates with an installed capacity of 48.9 MW at its Needsmust Power Plant. A solar generation and storage system, which broke ground in December 2020, is expected to provide 30-35% of St. Kitts' baseload energy needs.
