The National Insurance Services (NIS) is the sole provider of social security in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, established in 1987. It provides income protection benefits such as sickness, maternity, and invalidity to workers and their dependents. The NIS covers employees, self-employed, and voluntary contributors. It also contributes to economic development through a student loan program and operates two Golden Years Activity Centres for senior citizens.
